Ahead, we take you from A to Z of buying wigs. Here are five factors that go into finding the flattering wig to achieve a more beautiful you:
1.How To Choose Human Hair Wig Texture?
If you would like to find a wig that flattering you, the first step you should know is the different types of hair wig that are available, as well as how to tell them apart, both from each other.
The most popular and widely available types of virgin hair used for wigs are Brazilian, Peruvian, Indian, Malaysian. They are distinguished by their respective textures and come in multiple wave patterns such as straight, body wave, deep wave, loose wave, natural wave, water wave or Jerry curly.
Brazilian Human Hair Wig:
Brazilian human hair wig is in the highest quality of human hair wigs which is totally natural and not processed through chemical method. Being widely used in nowadays hair market, it is luxurious, very soft, thick and durable. It also has a lot of body and natural shine and it hold curls very well. Virgin Brazilian human hair wig is popular with women all over the world especially for African-American women.
Peruvian Human Hair Wig:
Peruvian human hair wig is versatile, extremely thick but light, soft and luxurious. It blends well with most natural hair and like Brazilian hair, provides a full body look with less hairpiece.
Indian Human Hair Wig:
Indian human hair wig is one of the most common and widely available hair types on the market. The best choice for long-lasting natural looking hair wigs. This type is also versatile, naturally silky and lustrous. It can be worn in a straight, Jerry curly, loose wave, natural wave, body wave, and deep wave texture. It also doesn't need to undergo any chemical treatments to attain a particular style.
Malaysian Human Hair Wig:
Malaysian human hair wig is heavier and thicker than Indian hair but it is also softer and silkier. It is also characterized by a great natural shine. It also holds curls better and longer than the other types with little to no product. Its texture and color are also easily matched to your hair style.
All virgin hair types have natural movement and should have minimal shedding and tangling. Each texture can be processed in straight, wavy or curly. With virgin hair you will notice colors are not even through out the bulk. You will find a few strands maybe lighter or darker than the rest of the hair. This is normal and typical of hair from a sunny country where hair lightens with exposure to the sun.
Although many women do not choose to wear wigs by choice, they do find that there are unexpected benefits. One is that your morning routine is simpler. You will also save money on hairstyling, cuts, and coloring. You will never have a 'bad hair day.'
2.How To Choose Cap Tape?
Double weft: These types of wigs are made by stitching together hair strands by using a hair sewing machine. This is a regular weft.
Single weft: It is also called as a light weft or a thin weft. This is relatively new.
Front lace wigs are exactly what they sound like. They have the lace only in the front of the unit. The rest has a thicker cap, the cap may have clips sewn to it to help hold the wig on the clients head.
Full lace units come with different specifications. They are lace, but they have urethane strips of adhesives to stick to. You can use lace tapes directly on the lace it’s self without the tape shining through the unit.
3.How To Measure The Human Hair Wig Length?
The hair length should be from the head top to the hair bottom as the hair is straight. The curly and wavy wigs are processed from straight wigs, so in the same length, curly and wavy wigs will be shorter by 1-2 inches (it depends on how deep the curl is) than straight wigs.
4.How To Determine Your Wig Size?
Once you have decided on your hair type, hair length and hair color, it is time to choose the size of a wig. Whether you buy your wig in person or online, you will need to know the size of your head. Here is the measuring guide:
Circumference:
Take a cloth measuring tape and wrap it around your head. It should start in the middle of your forehead, go down to the base of the skull where the wig will end, and then wrap back up to meet the start of the tape on the forehead.
Make sure as you wrap the tape around your head, that you keep the tape above your ears.
Front to Nape:
Measure from hairline at center of forehead straight back over crown to center of hairline at nape of the neck.
Ear to Ear across forehead:
At front of the ear, measure from hairline at base of sideburn, up across the hair line along forehead to the same point in front of another ear.
Ear to Ear over top:
Measure from hairline directly above the ear across top of head to the hairline directly above the other ear.
Temple to Temple around back:
From temple to temple across the back of the head.
Nape of Neck:
Measure the width of hairline across the nape of the neck.
5.Notice
For all wig types, air drying is highly recommended after a wash and conditioning.
Remember to wash at least once in 2-3 weeks.
Avoid using any other styling products between washes and avoid heavy oils like pink lotion, they tend to seep into the hair and tend to weigh it down resulting in restricted movement and potential tangling!
Use alcohol free serums. The hair won’t dry out and make it frizzy.
