How To Remove A Lace Front Wig

Aug 6, 2023

The lace front wig is one of the most popular wigs among people. It can provide you with a look of real beauty, and the glue-secured lace front wig is firm and realistic, however, you may be at a loss when it comes time to take the lace front wig off. You may be asking yourself, 'How do you perfectly remove a lace front wig without ripping the edges?' This article will give you an effective guide on how to perfectly remove a lace front wig.

How to remove a lace front wig perfectly step by step?

Step 1: Melt the glue with a glue remover

Choose an appropriate glue remover, such as alcohol or alcohol-based solution, Vaseline, etc. Brush your hair away from your hairline to expose the lace. You can secure the wig hair with a bobby pin or a hair tie. Apply a glue remover around the frontal lace. Then gently moisten the edges of the lace with the soaked towel, cotton swab, or makeup brush to weaken the glue, Wait a few minutes for the lace to absorb the glue remover.

Step 2: Pull the lace off

After applying glue remover to the edge of the lace and waiting for a while, you can start pulling the lace off. Slowly and gently pull off the lace without straining. If you feel the glue still tugging at your skin when you try to remove the lace wig, don't force it. It may tear the lace or hurt your hair and skin. Use more glue remover until you no longer feel any pulling.

Step 3: Take off your wig cap

Next, you need to remove the wig cap from your hair. Since the wig cap is in direct contact with your hair, you need to make sure to do this step gently. Be patient and careful when removing your wig cap.

Step 4: Remove glue from your skin and hair

Olive oil is great for removing glue from your skin and hair. When you have removed your wig cap completely, be sure to take off any remaining wig glue that may still linger underneath. If you have large amounts of adhesive left on your skin or hair, remove it with soap and water. This might be a good time to shower and wash your hair before putting the wig back on.

Step 5: Clean your lace front wig

Stir the wig in the sink with a mild shampoo. Use a wide wig brush to comb through the tangles. Gently comb the shampoo from top to bottom. Don't scrub your wig hair. Then rinse the shampoo, when the hair is still wet, apply a small amount of conditioner on the hair. Leave the conditioner in your hair for 3-5 minutes until the wig is very gentle, comb it with your fingertips or a wide-toothed comb from the tips of the hair. Then rinse the conditioner on your hair thoroughly with cold water. Let it air dry or place the lace front wig on a wig stand and place it under a hooded hair dryer.

Follow the steps above carefully, you can remove your lace front wig well!
